We have distilled our experience into a Strategic Review process aimed at determining where deficiencies in your business could be holding back your value or growth potential.

Experience

We have advised business buyers, financial investors (PE/VC), banks and other lenders on the value and security of their proposed investments. Our role was to review and understand businesses to determine the underlying value and opportunity; as well as highlighting “deal breakers” or fundamental flaws that represent an unpalatable risk of value destruction.

Key to understanding the value in our Strategic Review, is appreciating that if it matters to a third party, it should also matter to the business itself.

The Process

We have distilled this experience into a Strategic Review process aimed at determining where deficiencies in your business could be holding back your value or growth potential.

Areas covered include:

  • Management / workforce
  • Financial / legal
  • Governance / strategy
  • Operations / marketing

The output is a short form report that concentrates on the key strengths and weaknesses, as perceived by potential buyers or the market in general.

Variations of approach

Some clients choose to also involve their wider team in the process, depending on size, to consider how the views of the workforce differ to that of the Board.  It is certainly a big step to get the team involved, but it invariably has an engaging effect; and the results can provide excellent insights into where improvements can be made.

Next steps

Although it can be a discrete project, we are specifically on hand to help oversee and implement the recommendations coming out of the review – be it with the finance team ‘in the detail’ e.g. designing new Management Information packs; or with the Board, acting as a Non-Executive Director concentrating on high level matters; or of course – both!

With many years’ experience of working with both business owners and business ‘buyers’, we are confident that, in just a matter of hours, a strategic review will highlight areas for development – and focus your mind on how to effectively build or preserve the value of your business.
